Things about me...

I am the wife to one and mom to three with one on the way.

I starting dated my husband with I was 14 and after 16 years of marriage I still think he's very sexy.

I think my kids are hilarious, I would probably be a better parent if I started laughing less and parenting more.

I have four niece and one nephew but a lot of kids I love call me Aunt Kate

I love sauce on anything, any kind of sauce makes anything better.

I despise dressing up.  I really don't even like clothes with patterns.  I like plain clothes, but wish I had better taste in shoes.

I have probably only wore makeup 20 times in my life.

I consider five or more friends way to many.  I prefer to be a good friend to a few than a busy friend a lot.

I love my in-laws.  All of them rock.  I have a great mother and father-in-law, two brother-in-laws and two sister-in-laws.  I wish we got to see each other more often.

I wish toilets were more comfortable, like recline or something.

I am allergic to MANGOS but love them.

Medication makes me a better person.

I don't like to cuddle, not with my husband, not even with my kids.  When I lay down I just like to be by myself.

When I was little I wanted to me a nurse like my grandma, then I found out she had to touch sick people and I changed my mind quickly.

I refuse to vomit in a toilet.  I am not sticking my head where peoples butt goes.

My mother-in-law and I have never had a conversation in 20 years, but have also never had a argument.

I have tonsil stones.

My dream job is work for WIC or the Food Stamp Office, but I absolutely love my job and the people I work with.

I have three life long friends, Tessie, Becky and Christie.  My mom is my best friend.  Angela is my friend, mom, sister... everything you can imagine all rolled into one awesome cousin.

Sometimes when I am talking I know should stop but my mouth just keeps moving.

I hate cleaning.  Like some kids taking a bath... I hate cleaning.it makes me want to stomp my feet and run and hide.

I plan on taking over the world and no ones even going to see it coming.

Maysen makes her mark

I couldn't resist the title.

Maysen started her first year of school.  I didn't get to attend Meet the Teacher because I was at the hospital with my mom.  I got my first chance to meet her at Taylor's soccer game as we were competing against them and I was a little worried.

When Maysen comes to a T in the road she does not simply go on the quite relaxing road to the left or the more adventurous fun road to the right, no Maysen keeps walking straight and makes her own path; one that is quite and relaxing at times and adventurous and fun the rest.  She is a demanding, dimple smiling, pack rat, giggling, never brushing her hair mess and Mrs Cook, well Mrs Cook is quite, stunningly  pretty and calm; there was simply no way she could flourish in this ladies class.  Maysen seemed to love her though.  Maysen has shockingly been behaved in school.  She is thriving in school and I figured out why.  I went to Maysen's Christmas party and wow.  Mrs Cook is so calm she brings Maysen down a level.  She speaks queitly and nicely to all the childern. She has shown Maysen that she can still take her own path, but sometimes its okay to make a left or right.

My letter to Tessa

Marriage is not happily ever after and those people who say it is are liars. Marriage is sitting in the same room and being in two different worlds. Marriage is not calling a lawyer the first time you get into an argument.  Marriage is not being "in" love every day the rest of your life, marriage is falling in love over and over again. There will be times you look at Lee and suddenly realize what an awesome, hot and terrific person you decided to spend you life with.

People will say "never go to bed mad". Hell I've went to bed mad lots of times and one of two things happen; either A: I wake up in a better mood and have a terrific day or B: I wake up refreshed and ready to win the damn argument.

Also if you ever find his socks next to the clean clothes basket, just assume the are dirty and wash them. NEVER SMELL THE SOCKS, just assume they are dirty.

This has worked for me for over 20 years. Good luck Tessa, I pray for the best for you and your new family. I hope y'all find your semi happily ever after in the real life kind of way.

Life is what you make it, so make it great.

Love you, Kate

Life is what you make it, so make great.

Just Maybe

Maybe instead of telling people to walk a mile in you shoes; you should start enjoying life more, buy prettier shoes and dance in them.

Spring Break

Spring break is here and now it's gone, that quickly.

As everyone around here knows its rodeo time in Houston. My brother and sister in law took us for our first experience. As I packed up the Tahoe for my first solo overnight trip with kiddos, I realized this adventure may be more that I bargained for. But alas we load up and set off to TiĆ 's Casa. Once we got there of course there was lot of playing. My kids love playing with Melanie.  When I plan thing they never go quite right, so I like to let my OCD in-laws plan them.  Early, but not to early, the next morning we were off to the rodeo.  All the kids had a blast and Tina and Hector had already been there so it was nice to just relax and let them lead the way.

Not alwas just the bad

Please understand that my life isn't constant sadness. I have many moments with my family and friend that are full of joy. Recently I was bathing and notice that the biggest diamond in my anniversary band (the one Mo got me for my tenth anniversary) was gone. I do have insurance on my ring, however with Kay's insurance policy you must have the ring inspected every six month and I knew it had been well past that. I cried for hours. I don't wear jewelry, just my watch and ring. I was so upset. At 2:03 I was sitting in my recliner in my room and my friend Stephanie text me that her Nannie passed away. I put my head down and said a little prayer for her and her mom who was really struggling with her mothers illness. As I finished my prayer I opened my eyes and there on the floor was a tiny sparkle. I looked closed and believe it or not there it was... my diamond from my ring. Amazed, shocked just plain disbelief that in a 2500sq ft house there it was. Steph says her Nannie showed it to me and I couldn't agree more.

Starting Anew

This blog isn't sad or happy or neutral. It isn't to make you laugh or cry. It's just about me and what's in my head. I have twenty six blogs in draft because I started them and they were just to emotional to finish or because I was afraid to post them fearing what people might think. I have not watched, read or even listened to one single thing about Colorado and those close to me know why. I have depression, something I battle every single day. I usuaaly fake a smile a million times a day just to keep people thinking im okay. Sometime I vent to my mom, sister, Angela and Steph; and sometimes quietly alone I let the fear and despaire over come me just to let it out. Some may say by not acknowledging Colorado is ignorance; ignorance that wheather I watch or not it still happend. I however call it selective reasoning; is the a reason I need to watch this terrible news, is there a reason I need to read and see picture of it, is there a reason I need to listen to it on the radio or someone have a conversation about it. This is not the only thing I have shut out. We recently had a horrible murder here in my town, the town I call home. This month also marks the death of my cousin Kolby, who lovingly referred to me as "aunt Kate". I don't do sympathy on Facebook, some do and I guess to each thier own. But I don't mourn and I don't pray for people on my facebook page. When you do these thing you want people to know you have an attachment to the death or the event, I however want to pray and mourn at home quietly looking out my window as my kids play. That seems the make the sad not hurt as much as my 600 some odd friends tell me they understand or tell me to slap myself back into reality. Life will gone on day by day and those of us who battle depression will try yo start each day anew.I recently got my first tattoo. It says "Acceptance" in my moms hand writing. Everyone ask why. I have been throught a lot of stuff in my life... 99 percent of us have. However I was once at a point that I left it define me, now I just accept it as part of who I am, not my entire definition just part of it. I used to think that "Only those who have battled deppression can understand depression". I know know now that's not true and thank you to that person (my left leg). You will honestly never know the respect and love I have for you for having enough courage to be my friend.
